Nearly two years remaining to the 2021 General elections, in preparations to keep Ugandans with their properties safe through that period, a total of 133 police officers who undergone a three-week Public Order Management course were passed out on Wednesday 23rd 2019 at Najjembe in Buikwe district.
The officers were trained by Field Force Unit (FFU) instructors led by Sgt Okiror Micheal. The purpose of the course was to enhance participants’ knowledge on human rights and to familiarize them with equipments, tactics used/ applied in Public Order Management.
This was to enhance participants’ ability in managing public disorders professionally.
During the pass out, the officers demonstrated various ways on how to handle riots as per the course outline.
The officers were first taken through brief history of FFU, characteristics and the mandate of FFU.
A total of 133 officers attended the course in both categories, 121 men and 12 women excelled in various discipline and were awarded with certificates.
