2020 Fresh Diary Secondary Schools Games Officially Launched

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) and Fresh Diary Uganda have Officially launched the 2020 Fresh Dairy Secondary Schools games, today, Tuesday 3rd March at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Apitta has lauded all the participating schools right from the districts to regionals in games that include basketball, hockey, rugby, table tennis, badminton, tennis and girls football for their comment to promote talent and sports at large by finding teams.

Chairman USSSA Mr. Patrick Okanya stressed the value of these games, manifested in the 2019 FEASSA Games where 8 gold medals were recorded in ball games one.
“Its been a very big launch, Fresh Diary has come in a very big way. This time, we are going to connect the best talent at the lower levels”, said Okanya.


“They sponsored 12 games and 8 won FEASSSA gold medals. This year we target 12 out of 12 come August in Kakamega, Kenya”. He added.
In the same vein, Vincent Omoth the marketing manager Fresh Diary vowed to remain committed to the five years contract signed by USSSA.


“Last year, Fresh Dairy started a five year contract with Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association worth 3 Billion, Eight Hundred Eighty-Five Million Uganda Shillings (3,885,000,000 Ushs) to boost sports in secondary schools across Uganda. Over the past 1 year, Fresh Dairy is pleased to see a progression in secondary school sports through better quality of sports being played now, but also an increase in the number of students and schools participating”, said Omoth.

“As title sponsors of the Fresh Dairy Secondary School Games we are humbled by the role we are playing in growing the stature of Uganda’s secondary schools games. Fresh Dairy’s sponsorship essentially serves to nurture the sporting talent of our youth while highlighting the need for health and nutrition using our products. Fresh Dairy believes in developing a complete individual in terms of Sports, Academia and Health”. He Added.


“This year again, Fresh Dairy’s sponsorship will go towards kitting every team with each player getting two sets of kits during the national finals, publicity, branding venues, activations in regions, and administrative costs including trophies, medals and certificates.

We are also mounting a robust advertising and publicity campaign for the games across Uganda to heighten participation and interest in the games nationally”, added Omoth.


Gulu will host the games from 1st to 10th May 2020 at St Joseph College Layibi and Sacred Heart SS. Last year, Mbale SS and Nkoma SS host these games.


A record 600,000 students compared to last year’s 450,000 are confirmed to take part in this edition from zonal, district, Regional and National levels a cross the country.
Games like basketball, football (girls), Rugby, Racket games, Athletics among others will be on the menu card in this year’s National finals slated for 1st to 10th May at Layibi College School and Sacred Heart in Gulu.


The games also double as Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games. This year’s East African Championship will be held in Kakamega Kenya.
