In a closely contested game at the Masaka Recreation grounds, Kenneth Kimera scored the only goal of the day to confirm Gomba Lions to the 2023 Masaza Cup final on Monday evening.
Having won the first leg 2-1, this was a chance for Gomba to extend their lead in the tie just like it was for Buddu to redeem themselves at home.
However Gomba won the second leg 1-0 to go through to the finals after wining their 3-1 on aggregate.
The record champions Gomba will be seeking to extend their championship tittle lead as they will be hunting for the fifth title.
In the other semifinal, Bulemeezi advanced to the finals after edging Mawokota 4-2 in Penalties at the Kasana Playground in Luweero.
Mawokota’s penalties were missed by Uganda Martyrs University’s Joseph Kayondo and Mansoor Anga.
The game ended one-all in the first leg at the Buwama playground, home to Mawokota and later both teams climaxed the 90 minutes on Monday with a goalless draw.
The Final will be played between Gomba and Bulemeezi, this will be the first time ever for both teams to meet in the finals.
This will be fourth final for Bulemeezi while for the record champions of Gomba it will be their ninth time in the final having won five of their last eight.
Meanwhile, Mawokota and Buddu, having lost in the semi-finals they will now be fight for the third place on a yet to announced venue and date.
