2023 Beach Woodball World Cup, preparation in high gear as team Uganda set to leave for Malaysia next week

The Preparations for the 2023 Beach Woodball World Cup are in high gear as the Uganda Woodball National team continues with training for the tournament due to take place in Malyasia.

The players have been in camp for a month now at Bunjjako island, in Buwama subcounty Mpigi district.

The team comprises of 12 players who are in good shape hoping to showcasing the improved talent when they represent the Country come next month in Malaysia. and Uganda is one of the tournament favourites after emerged runners up in the previous two tournaments

The Woodball National team, first participated in the Woodball World Cup in 2018,  where they came out as runners-up and then in 2021.

The team is set to leave the Bunjjako place on Friday and expected to leave country for Malaysia next week.

The 12 players, consist of six males and six female. The men players are; Atamba Onesmas,  who is the male team captain,  Thomas Kedi,  Israel Muwanguzi,  Ronald Mulindwa,  Robert Mutibwa and Michael Musazi.

The women team consist of; Joan Mukoova, who is the ladies team captain,  Joyce Nalubega,  Kilian Zawede,  Florence Makuya,  Christine Birungi and Naula Jackle.

According,  to the team coach Mr. George Isabirye, said that the team have improved on physical fitness, skills perfection and technical behaviour of the game and we promise Ugandans, medals only from the World Cup.

Atamba Onesmas,  the mens captain,  said that for the last two editions, we have been runners- up but this time we promise Ugandans that we are coming as winners.

Assistant coach Eric Enabu and team manager Grace Orene,  also among the team members who will leave for Malaysia.
