Uganda has been included on Netball World Cup fixture amidst uncertainties.
Earlier this week, Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo revealed that the team’s participation remains in doubt.
The 2023 Netball World Cup is due July 28 – August 6, 2023 in Cape Town South Africa.
Ho. Babirye reported that the Uganda must pay up to £5,000, as fine for withdrawing from the Qualifiers last year.
The She Cranes missed the World Cup qualifiers in South Africa in August last year due to financial constraints.
But the team had already qualified for the World Cup, first to be hosted on the African soil, thanks to a good World Ranking.
Per 2022 World Netball General Regulations, on failure to fulfill fixtures, the association has to pay fines before it’s eligible to play again!
Per the fixture, Uganda will open their campaign against Singapore if all goes according to plan on July 28 2023.
The She Cranes will face New Zealand on July 29 before facing Trinidad and Tobago the following day.
This will be the third consecutive appearance for She Cranes at the World Cup since it’s return to the tournament in 2015 after 36 years, following their debut in 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago.
