Ukhasa, Ssemuddu confidence ahead of the 2023 Africa Boxing Championship, due July 25 -to August 6 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The 17 members of the Bombers team,  this afternoon flagged-off to Yaounde,  Cameroon for mission to conquer Africa.

The team led by overall captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa was flagged -off by different VIPS including Kawempe RCC Omulangira Walugembe,  Ali Shafic commonly known as Ghetto Giant,  Shadow sports minister Kayemba Solo,  Grace Namutebi from Sting at Kyamys,  Kawala road.

The team have been in camp at Buloba forest for weeks to work on their skills inorder to conquuer Africa.

Welter weight number one Ukasha Matovu and Light middle number one Muzamir Ssemuddu promised a heavy returns in the tournament that starts from 25,  this month to 5,  next month in Cameroon capital of Yaounde.

“It’s my first time to represent bombers and am ver sure of coming back with a gold medal,  John Blaq body guard Muzamir states.

According to Ukasha,  he said that INSHALLAH,  i will come back with a medal, i don’t want to disappoint my fans.

Uganda Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi noted that he is confident the team will return home with medals.

“Uganda Bombers will perform well since we have been winning, but in future, if we get good preparations before the tournament, we shall even perform better,” he said.

“This is the first media workout we have ever conducted for the Uganda Bombers so that people can get to know them. I am optimistic that they will perform well in the championships given their preparation.”

Men: Joshua Tukamuhebwa (captain, light welterweight), Joseph Kalema (minimum weight), Kassim Mulungi (featherweight), Wasswa Ssali (lightweight), Ukasha Matovu (welterweight), Muzamir Ssemuddu (light-middleweight), Ronald Okello (middleweight), Lawrence Kayiwa (cruiserweight), Mukiibi (light heavyweight), Solomon Geko (heavyweight) and James Baraka (super heavyweight).

Women: Emily Nakalema (captain, welterweight), Grace Nankinga (light flyweight), Nadia Najjemba (bantamweight), Sharua Ndagire (featherweight), Zahara Nandawula (lightweight) and Erina Namutebi (light welterweight).

Coaches: Twaibu Mayanja and Ramanthan Seguya

The last edition,  Uganda got two bronze medals from Yusuf Nkobeza and Jonah Kyobe.

TEach boxer who gets gold, will walk away with 73 million,  a silver is 36million and a bronze is 18 million from the organizers.
