Vipers SC have completed the signing of free agent-Paul Mucureezi.

Mucureezi has been without a club after his contract with Mbarara City FC expired at the end of December 2019.

The news of him signing for Vipers SC came in just hours after he had announced that he had left Mbarara City FC.

Vipers SC confirmed his signing on their official website.

“Vipers Sports Club is delighted to announce the signing of Paul Mucureezi from Mbarara City FC on a three-year contract from January 3rd 2019, with an option for a further year, read the post on Vipers’ website.

Mucureezi has been a strong pillar in the Mbarara City FC team, top-scoring for them last season as they finished 5th. However, he has endured a slow start this season, scoring just three goals in 14 games.

The midfielder is likely to make his debut when Vipers play Kyetume FC next week on Friday at St Mary’s Stadium.

Speaking after the Mucureezi signing, Vipers’ head coach Edward Golola was full of praise for the winger.

“Mucureezi is one of the best wingers or forwards in the Uganda Premier League, noted Golola.

“He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Vipers SC and he fits exactly the type of player we were looking for to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.

Mucureezi has roots at Vipers SC having studied at St. Mary’s Kitende, the feeder side of the Venoms.

He, however, made his mark at KCCA FC where he played three seasons before moving to Mbarara City FC.

Upon signing for Vipers, Mucureezi could not hide his excitement.

“l am thrilled to be joining Vipers SC, he said.

“I have enjoyed my time at Mbarara City FC enormously and l have learned a lot there. But I’m looking forward to another journey now with the Venoms.

“I am keen to get started and make my contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies.”

Vipers currently lead the Uganda Premier League with 36 points from 15 games.

They host Kyetume FC next Friday in their first game of the second round.
