If Government was not funding national sports bodies they would have collapsed by now.

The administrative assistant secretory of National council of sports Devis Katende Ssemakula while speaking at the national Wood ball Federation annual General Assembly held at Uganda Wood ball Federation headquarters in Mengo on February 8th 2020, Katende challenged sports bodies which always wait for government support to try to look for the money from other ways possible.

While presenting their 2019 financial report, Wood ball Federation financial report has confirmed 60% of their expenditures were government support.

Katende didn’t fail to say out his concern “for those who accusing the government for not funding sports in the country if it was like that most of the sports bodies would have collapsed, but Federations must find ways of making their own money, may be we may opt to fund sports bodies after looking on how much they have.

Federations must rise their own funds as they wait for government support.

Katende has also advised Woodball Federation members to play a key roll in strengthening its financial status “If Federations have to be at their own, its you the members to be the stepping stone by paying subscriptions in time and fulfilling all your responsibility in budgeted time” Wood ball’s budget is 60% government supported but when you look into other sports bodies financial reports you may rise much concern,’Katende cited.
