Uganda International Badminton tournament

The State minister for sports Hon. Hamson Obua Denis has officially opened the Uganda International Badminton 2020 Championship at a function held at MTN Arena Lugogo on Friday February 21st 2020.

165 players from 35 countries participating in the 15th edition that kicked off onThursday 20th Feb with closing ceremony to be held on Sunday February 24th 2020.

“We are hosting an event were 35 countries are participating. Hosting such a tournament is a clear manifestation that sports in Uganda is slowly growing up and it is no longer for entertainment and leisure”,Minister said while addressing the media.

“Looking at this Badminton tournament one realise that sports has a capacity of producing people who will be able to generate income”,Hamson Obua added.

The tournament also will help to shape the players for the Olympics games. India who are not taking part in this year’s edition are the reigning champions.
