KCCA FC will travel to Rwanda on Wednesday for 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup due to kick off on Saturday 6-21 July in Kigali.

Uganda Premier league Champions are expected to leave the country tomorrow for this years tournament where they will compete in group B along with Azam (Tanzania), Mukura Victory Sports (Rwanda) and Bandari (Kenya).

The Lugogo based side was the first Ugandan club to win the CECAFA club cup in 1978 when they defeated Tanzania’s Simba SC in the finals.

Since then, CECAFA has always been so close yet still far for KCCA FC.

This time around Uganda is expected to be represented by an other club ( Proline FC)

“We want to go there and win, I have good players and it has become a responsibility for them to win. We will be facing good teams and every body is there on merit. We want to go there and win, we don’t want to be passengers.” Said manager Mike Mutebi.

The last time KCCA FC played in CECAFA finished third after defeating Sudanese side Khartoum 2-1 at Tanzania National Stadium through Michael Birungi and Muzamir Mutyaba’s goals.

However, the tourney according to many has come at a wrong time with some clubs having players with their national teams in Africa Cup of nations.

Despite missing Allan Kyambadde, Timothy Awany and Patrick Kaddu, Coach Mutebi believes that he still has enough win in Rwanda.
