Following the postponement of voting in Mawogola west and Mawogola north by the ruling party NRM electoral commission chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi, due to election violence, Joseph Ssekabiito has declared to come as independent if justice is not given.
This development comes after one of the aspirants hajjat Hanifah Kawooya petitioned the commission accussing his rival contender Joseph Ssekabiito and his supporters of assaulting her which is illegal.
Dr.Tanga Odoi says that the postponment is done to allow Hanifah Kawooya gets necessary treatment and a date for voting in these areas will be communicated.
Now Ssekabiito says that no one can reject him from coming as independent because he has a lot of supporters which are still trusting him.
“If justice is not prevailed over, in these elections especially in my area where am contesting, am ready and willing to come as independent and no body will hinder me to do what I want so longer as its legal, Ssekabiito added”.
Deputy inspector general of police Sabiiti Mzee yesterday camped in Ssembubule to tighten security due to violence which has been appearing in Mawogola Ssembabule district to avoid violence.
The party has again today called off elections Mawogola north where Minister for foreign affairs Sam Kahamba Kuteesa’s daughter Musherure Kutesha Nayebale Shartshi, a brother of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Godfrey Aine Kaguta Sodo and Kiseka Salim are all eying for Mawogola north legislator.
Also this development has come following the ongoing conflicts and violence specifically between the two parties of Musherure Kuteesa and Aine Godfrey Sodo which has caused also the postponement of these elections as the situation is getting normal.
