Democratic party (DP) president general Norbert Mao says all those who quit the party will remain it strong and existed.
This follows the most recent scenario whereby some of the DPs political pillars crossed to other political parties saying DP has lost its glory and they are mistreated by party president Norbert Mao such as using abusive language like calling them Emmale, Emmome, watermelon among others also insisting that Norbert Mao is working for the ruling NRM party chairman also the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Some of the members who left the party which include among others Butambala’s legislator Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Kalungu West legislator Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu, Masaka legislator Mathias Mpuga, Kawempe north legislator Al Haji Latif Ssebagala Ssengendo who all crossed to NUP, including lord mayor Al Haji Ssalongo Erias Lukwago who crossed to Forum for Democratic change (FDC).
Mao who was addressing the media yesterday along Salaama road in Makindye division highlighted that Democratic party is not running on one parson like other parties that is why it is still strong at all levels and whoever wants to join it, the entry is free.
“DP is strong, united with its slogan Truth and Justice, we have groomed, mentored and built many political actors like state minister for youths and children Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, who eventually left the party to NRM, but it remained into existence and firm, even the recent DP political players who crossed to NUP and FDC just wanted positions due to pressure in DP, but its like getting a bottle of water from an ocean the volume of water cannot reduce, and you can’t see any slight change, therefore this is what is in DP, he said”.
Mao noted that, as party president, he is happy due to young generation entering the party because these are leaders of tomorrow adding that he can’t keep silent to party members who go wrong thinking they are special and superior to others because this leads to the establishment of some factions citing out SSuubi which was led by Ssalongo Erias Lukwago.
“people think that I abuse them, but I always tell them the truth to do what they are mandated to, he said’.
