UPDF spokes person Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso says NUP’s founder Moses Nkonge Kibalama is currently with security operatives holding and providing him maximum security.
Byekwaso disclosed this information on Friday 18th at Uganda media center Kampala saying, security operatives received intelligence information that there is a plan for violence to Moses Kibalama and his residence, death threats among others which puts his life at stake and quick reaction was urgent and important to keep him safe.
“As UPDF, we don’t have Kibalama, but what you should know he is with security for a good reason,” she added.
NUP’s spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, on Thursday said that Kibalama’s home was raided on Wednesday night by a combined force of police and UPDF personnel under unclear reasons which he was later whisked away to an unknown destination where he is currently under custody.
“Our legal team will follow up, we want to know where he is being held and what reasons of the detention could be, “Ssenyonyi said.
Byekwaso said on Friday that, Kibalama is being kept by security forces with maximum security despite she didn’t specify which kind of security organ holding him.
On the other hand, Byekwaso revealed that, UPDF was heavily deployed at Karamoja Moroto district to hunt prisoners who broke Singira government prison and 219 escaped saying they ran away with 14-15 guns, 20 magazines among others, but they are expecting to get them very soon due to ongoing hunt.
Meanwhile Bwekwaso condemned all politicians over the use of excessive force like guns to consolidate themselves in politics saying whoever caught will be prosecuted in accordance the law citing out an example of various sagas happened in the NRM ruling party primaries elections.
