NUP Presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine will launch his manifesto a day later “in light of the untimely death of senior leader Sheikh Abdul Noor Anas Kaliisa.”

“We have postponed our manifesto launch to Saturday 07 November, 2020 to enable our senior leaders, including myself participate in the funeral of the late Dr. Abdul Noor Anas Kaliisa,” Bobi Wine announced on Thursday via his social media platforms.

The Kyadondo East legislator, who Wednesday rejected the security detail provided by the Electoral Commission, came specific on the venue for the launch.

“The launch is scheduled to take place in Kakoba division, Mbarara city,” he confirmed.

“We have accordingly notified the Electoral Commission and Uganda Police,” he added regarding this development.

Mbarara city, about 270Km from Kampala, had decades long been the ruling NRM stronghold until during the 2016 polls when the pendulum slightly swung towards opposition.

The NUP leader will also aim at opening up party offices in the district that is within the same metropolitan as Kiruhura, the ancestral home of the incumbent and National Resistance Party (NRM) presidential  nominee Mr. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni.

Mr. Kyagulanyi’s initial plans of launching his manifesto at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters, in Kampala on Tuesday after being nominated, were foiled by security operatives who forcefully drove him from the nomination grounds in Kyambogo straight to his home in Magere, Kasangati.

He was blocked from leaving, which thereafter ensued into a serious scuffle between security and Bobi Wine supporters. Several people including the main celebrant, Bobi, got injured.

Political analyst and scholar Sheikh Abdu Noor Anas Kaliisa died Wednesday afternoon after he collapsed at his home.
