First lady, minister of Education and sports Janat Kataha MUseven flags the she cranes.

Uganda’s Minister of Education and Sports who also doubles as the Country’s First lady Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni has on Thursday, flagged off the National Netball team for the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019.

The function was held at the State Lodge Nakasero where the She Cranes team together with the Netball Federation leaders.

Earlier today, there have been reports making rounds that the She Cranes were going to strike like how the cranes did.

Reports have confirmed that the players have not received it yet but the Federation President Susan Anek while at the flag off told the First lady about the crisis and she said that they are to resolve it although it’s not clear whether the team will receive the allowances before going to England.

The contigent of to 25 people with 12 players is expected to travel to England on Thursday night.

The 2019 Netball World Cup will be the 15th staging of the premier competition in international netball, contested every four years. The tournament will be held from Friday 12th – Sunday 21st July 2019 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England.

The She Cranes will take part in their second World Cup tournament on the bounce following an eighth-place finish at the 2015 edition.

Uganda will face England Roses in the opener on July 12 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool before facing other group D opponents Samoa and Scotland.
