Parliament of Uganda will today afternoon resume plenary sittings after two weeks of Parish Development Model (PDM) monitoring.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, had granted legislators a two-week recess to conduct oversight into the operation of the Parish Development Model.
Parliament appropriated Shs1.49 trillion to the Parish Development Model to cover 10,400 parishes in the country and under Article 90 of the Constitution; the MPs mandate is to carry out the oversight function on the Parish Development Model (PDM) in their respective constituencies.
MPs were divided into 18 clusters representative of the 18 sub regions of the country.
The MPs are now expected to present reports to the house determining, the exact amount of approved funds disbursed to the respective parishes, the eligibility of the beneficiaries of the funds, the assessed effectiveness of the disbursed funds and establish the extent of the adherence to the PDM guidelines and procedures of the actor and implementers of the fund.
Some of other key issues to be addressed by Parliament include addressing the iron sheets saga where MPs from the Karamoja region want to present a motion of censure against Minister for Karamoja Mary Goreth Kitutu, among other issues and the retabling of the Anti-Homosexuality bill.
