Arsenal’s Premier League title credentials will next be tested on Sunday at Anfield against Liverpool, who sit in mid-table ahead of the match.

Arsenal defeated Leeds United 4-1 at home in their last league match, their seventh straight win, putting them eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Liverpool are in eighth place on 43 points, having scored 48 goals and conceded 33. With 10 matches remaining, the Reds trail fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by seven points for a spot in the Europa League. Liverpool earned a point in their last Premier League match, drawing 0-0 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, extending their winless streak to three (W0 D1 L2).

When the two sides last met in Premier League action, Arsenal emerged victorious 3-2 at Emirates Stadium in October. Bukayo Saka led the Gunners with two goals, netting in the 50th and 76th minute. Gabriel Martinelli also was on the scoresheet. Darwin Núñez and Roberto Firmino found the net for the Reds.

For the season, Arsenal’s leading attacking threats have been Martinelli and Saka, who have scored 13 and 12 times, respectively. Martinelli ranks fifth among the league’s top scorers in 2022/2023, while Saka is sixth.

Mohamed Salah has caught the eye for Liverpool this season. He leads the club with 12 goals, five of which have been the crucial first of the match.

Hosts Liverpool have been tough to beat on home soil this season with nine wins, three draws, and just one loss in 13 Premier League contests. The Reds will be out to prolong a six-match home unbeaten streak (W5 D1 L0) dating to November 2022 against Southampton. With 11 wins, one draw, and just two losses away from home, Arsenal boast a fine away record in league away matches this campaign. The Gunners currently find themselves on a three-match away winning streak. The last time they failed to win away was February 4 against Everton.

In their last six league matches, Liverpool have won two, drawn two and lost two. Arsenal, meanwhile, have won seven straight league matches this season.
