Mr. Okello, a radiologist arraigned before court over using hospital equipment to acquire personal loan on Wednesday

Abilla Okello, a radiologist at Arua Referral Hospital, has been convicted for using diagnosis equipment as security to acquire a loan.

Okello was on Wednesday arraigned before the Anti-corruption Court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit working with Police.

He is said to have illegally obtained and used diagnosis equipment of the TB X-ray machine as security to acquire a loan in December 2021. He has been remanded.

This comes a day after Gulu City Commercial Officer was on Tuesday remanded over mismanagement of PDM funds after being arraigned before the Gulu Chief Magistrates Court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit working with Police.

He was charged with giving false information in relation to the mismanagement of PDM funds. Mr. Atemo allegedly gave false information that he had conducted trainings of town agents, SACCO leaders and PDM trainers in 32 wards of Gulu city whereas not, yet he had received funds for the said activities.

He was remanded till 26/5/23.

This comes following a directive from President Kaguta Museveni to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to investigate mismanagement of the PDM Program following an outcry of Wanainchi in the Acholi sub region.

On May 4, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit arraigned Sekamanya Geoffrey and Musiige Vicent before the Masaka Chief Magistrate Court on charges of intermeddling with the property of the deceased, forgery, uttering false documents, malicious damage to property and conspiracy to defraud.

The accused and others still at large conspired and forged documents allegedly from the Administrator General which they used to divide the kibanja of the late Kateregga Yafesi Nkumbi of Samaliya village. The two further destroyed coffee and banana plantations of residents in the area.

Sekamanya and Musiige are said to part of a group of serial land grabbers that have for a long time terrorized the residents of Masaka. They were remanded till 6/06/2023.

On May 3, the Anti-Corruption Court convicted and sentenced Mause Tom, the former C/P Area Land Committee and three directors of the Lions Club of Tororo Host Ltd; Googo Nelson, Wamala Lawrence & Dambio John.

The accused together with Osudo Jackson, the Principal Ast. Secretary/Secretary Dist. Land Board were charged with attempting to fraudulently register land measuring approximately 4 acres hosting the Tororo Children’s Park.

The directors acting with Mr Mause Tom and Mr Osudo Jackson attempted to fraudulently register the land to their privately company, Lions Club of Tororo Host Ltd created to usurp the rights of the legitimate registered trustees of Lions Club of Tororo.

This fraudulent process was intercepted at the Ministry of Lands Zonal Offices, Mbale after it was found that there was no input of the Physical Planner.
