Vipers’ coach Alex Isabirye rallied his players to take advantage of the home ground and get a comfortable win over Bright Stars in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal game.

The two StarTimes Uganda Premier League sides battle each other on Saturday, May 20 at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende in the first of the two-legged Uganda Cup semis.

Speaking on Friday, May 19 during the media conference, Isabirye stated: “I know we’re facing one of the most organized teams and the game will not be easy but our aim is to win with a good score margin at home. It’s a must win for us and I have asked my players to put up their best.”

However, Bright Stars’ coach Asaph Mwebaze is adamant about his side’s chances.

“We going to Vipers to get a good result that will see us finish job easily at home [Kavumba] in the return leg,” Mwebaze vowed in an interview on Thursday, May 18.

In their recent meeting in the league, Bright Stars beat Vipers 1-0, thanks to Emma Loki’s goal at the Kavumba Recreational ground.

To reach the semifinal stage, Vipers eliminated lower division Calvary FC (4-1) while Bright Stars dumped KCCA FC 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

Police FC leads Adjumani Town Council FC (1-0) in the other semifinal tie after the first leg played last week. The two FUFA Big League sides are scheduled to meet again in the return leg later this month in Adjumani.
