USSSA President Justus Mugisha has Launched 2023 Buganda Schools Sports Competitions Calendar

The Buganda schools competition has been launched today Thursday 15 June 2023 at Bulange, Mmengo by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association president Mr. Justus Mugisha doubles as the FUFA first vice president.

At the launch Mugisha said that, it is pleasure to be invited as a chief guest to launch this years Buganda Kingdom Schools Sports competition.

Mugisha, taught the schools games masters and directors who ere present about the rules governing the tournament and later launched the tournament.

This event was also graced by Buganda Kingdom Sports, Youth and Recreations minister Owek. Henry Ssekabembe together with Haji Sekabira Lukooya the Buganda schools sports committee chairman, Haji Matovu and Abbey Ssentongo the schools committee treasure.

This year’s competitions will involve, primary schools football which is the Kabaka cup, primary Schools netball which is the Nabagereka cup, Secondary schools football boys and girls which is the Buganda cup.

This year will grace six sports disciplines which include; Football for primary and secondary schools, football girls and boys, the senior one and senior football, Netball for primary and secondary, Handball boys and girls of secondary schools and primary schools, Handball boys and girls for secondary schools, Basketball boys and girls for secondary schools, woodball for secondary and primary, boys and girls.

According to the calendar, the tournament will see it’s climax on 4th August 2023 at the venue yet to be confirmed.

The competition is expected to kick off this week with zonal qualifiers, which is the district qualification round.

Kawempe Muslim ss are the defending champions in boy’s football after defeating Gombe High School Kawala in penalties.
