Speaker Anita Among vowed not to preside over parliament if Gov’t fails to provide funds for health medics

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has vowed not to preside over parliament in future if Ministry of finance fails to provide funds for both intern and senior health medics.

This was after a group of Joint Medical Professionals lead by Dr Ekwaro Obuku petitioned the speaker on the failure by government to deploy and pay allawences of intern medics.

Dr Obuku also raised concern of worry on the policy by Ministry of Health to make intern medics to pay for their trainings contrary to the law.

Speaker Among emphasized that parliament has already given conditions to both MoF and MoH to pay and deploy all intern medics and failure to do so parliament will take action of not sitting until all is implemented.

Meanwhile Speaker Among has also rest fears of unplanned pay of incoming medical interns lotte in the coming financial year as raised by Dr Obuku saying that government will consider supplementary when that time comes.
