Ball Games II Wakiso District Qualifiers: Boddo SS, Kawanda ss, Madinah Islamic and St. Mary’s Kitende With Perfect Start

The qualifiers for the 2023 USSSA Ball Games II are now going on through out the whole country.

Wakiso District started it’s qualifiers on Wednesday and will climax on Friday 23rd at Mouth Olive in Kakiri, Wakiso District.

In the netball discipline, the Wakiso giants Buddo SS and St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende along with Kawanda SS and Madinah SS have perfectly started and each showed supremacy in their respective groups.

With the group stage games played today at Mount Olive, Kawanda SS still topping group (A) and they are still unbeaten as it is for St Mary’s Kitende, Buddo SS and Madinah Islamic SS Nsangi.

In their opening fixtures, Kawanda SS first humbled Bweyogerere SS 40-2 goals, St Mary’s Kitende never allowed to concede any goal in their opening fixture against Emirates College as they won the game 29-00. Buddo SS beat Canaan 18-11 in their opening game.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, the tournament was officially opened by the chief guest, Mr. Ssenyonga Brian Charles, the Wakiso District Sports Officer who also doubles as Vice President Technical of All Sports Officers in Uganda. He was impressed with the turn up for this edition especially in Netball and the smartness they have exhibited.

“I am impressed with the turn up, all the teams we have invited showed up, I am also happy that the teams do look smart, you know, Wakiso is a model district in schools Sports, so I am happy that they didn’t let me down.” Says Mr. Ssenyonga Brian Charles.

The Wakisssa sports committee chairperson, Mr. Katamba Gerald also stamped in with the turn up of the teams, revealed that this year’s turnup was better than that of last year in all the games; Netball, football U14 and U16, Woodball, Basketball 3*3, Volleyball and Dance sport. He asserted that 1401 students are taking part in this year’s edition.

According to chairperson, Netball alone has attracted 32 schools compared to the 24 they had last year, at least 50 schools from Wakiso have taken part in qualifiers.

The best teams will represent Wakiso in the Ball games II finals that will to be held at St Mary’s College Rushorooza next month.

Five different venues have hosted the qualifiers with Mount Olive the main hosting school. The other venues are; Emirates College Nkoowe, WAKISHA resource Centre, Wakiso Muslim SS and St Charles Lwanga International School.
