Former Buganda Kingdom’s first Deputy Katikkiro Godfrey Kaaya Kavuma is dead, officials have confirmed. Kavuma died on Saturday night at Nakasero Hospital Kampala. Kaaya Kavuma 83 years served as Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom under Katikkiro Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere regime. He was currently the chairman CBS Radio Board of Directors. The late Kavuma was also the financial controller at the 1st coronation ceremonies of Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II in 1993 and as State Minister for Finance and Minister of Lands in the Kingdom. He was one of the brains behind the establishment of CBS Radio in 1996 as well as serving as its Managing Director for 18 years before his retirement in 2015. Kavuma’s death came days after Kayima death. Owek. Kavuma is will be buried after this year’s coronation celebrations due to climax on Wednesday 31st July.
