Nakivubo, Namboole Stadiums Inspected for Pamoja AFCON 2027 bid

FUFA President Moses Magogo Hassim revealed the Venues that Uganda listed.

The CAF Inspection Team has visits the three East African states, started with Kenya on Tuesday, today Friday 28 July the team is in the country for Carryout inspection duties in regards to the 2027 AFCON East African host PAMOJA bid and Saturday 29th July will proceed to Tanzania.

The team have therefore on Friday spent the entire day inspecting some the selected venues. The Caf team inspected Mandela National Stadium Namboole first before proceeded to Nakivubo Stadium, one of the facilities earmarked by Uganda in the East Africa PAMOJA BID for AFCON 2027.

At Namboole the team was welcomed by FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo who was flanked by his second vice president Darius Mugoya Kitibwa, EXCOM Rogers Mulindwa and Rogers Byamukama and the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson Ssuubi.

While at Nakivubo Stadium the team together with the FUFA delegation led by president were welcomed by the stadium proprietor Hajji Hamis Kigundu who was flanked by Ham Enterprises officials

FUFA, earmarked some of the venues that will be used for sampling purposes during the inspection. “According to Eng. Magogo, CAF in their inspection looking at five key areas namely; stadiums, training grounds, hospitals, hotels and airports.

Bellow are the venues that were named to be inspected.

Hospital – Mulago Hospital

Hotels – Sheraton Hotel and Kampala Serena Hotel

Training Grounds – Kampala International School Uganda (KISU), Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku, Denver Godwin Stadium, St. Mary’s Stadium and Nakivubo Stadium.

Stadiums – Mandela National Stadium, Akii Bua Stadium and Hoima (Proposed for construction)

Airports – Entebbe International Airport, Kabalega Airport, Hoima.

Sudan was the last East African Member Association to host Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 1970.

The PwC team from CAF will conclude its activities tomorrow as per programme below; 

  • 8.30am: CAF Inspection team at St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende
  • 9.30am: CAF Inspection team at Denver Goodwin Stadium-Garuga
  • 11am: CAF team inspects Entebbe International Airport.

This activity will be followed by a boardroom meeting. 

The CAF Inspection team will fly out later in the day and head to Tanzania.
