Baganda (busolya)clan chiefs from the United Kingdom have been urged to work hard to maintain and strengthen their cultural norms wherever they are, to keep Buganda candle burning.

The chiefs have pledged to protect the throne through upholding their clans in the UK.

While meeting these people in Bulange Mengo, the first Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom Owek. Haji Twaha Kawaase Kigongo has cautioned the Baganda from United Kingdom and other countries to make sure that they don’t forget their culture and also to make it known among their children so that they don’t adopt other foreign cultures.

He has also asked them to train their children their Luganda native language and norms, and grow up with the love for their King, showing concern over children who grow up from abroad and forget their native languages and their culture.

“He said training them from childhood is one way to keep Buganda candle burning even abroad.

Owek. Kawaase has also challenged Baganda abroad to try as much as they can to work while investing back home, here in Uganda so that by the time they return to their motherland, they will not be affected financially.

The speaker of the Bataka in Buganda kingdom Omutaka Augustine Mutumba Kizito, has appealed to baganda abroad to make sure they get written literature in Luganda language so that their children practice reading luganda, and in this way, they will grow up knowing and understanding their language.

The Bataka from United Kingdom were led by Godfrey Kibuuka who has represented the chief of Mbogo clan, David Ssegawa from Nkima clan, Bbosa Kiyingi from Ndiga clan, Deus Zziwa from Ndisa clan, Rebecca Katonda Gwaliwa omukisa, James Mugga and Haji Badru Male have extended their gratitude towards His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for giving them responsibilities to lead Baganda living abroad.
