Uganda has been chosen as the venue for the Global Peace Festival in 2024.
Held every year, the Global Peace Festival is organized by the Global Peace Foundation (GPF), an international non-sectarian; non-partisan, non-profit organization established in 2009, that promotes an innovative, values-based approach to promote peace.
The Kampala edition seeks to empower parents and youth to promote African extended family values for peace and development in Uganda, according to the organisers.
The Minister of State for Gender and Culture in the Ugandan Cabinet Peace Regis Mutuuzo confirmed the government’s willingness and commitment to supporting the three–day Family Peace Association event in Kampala.
Minister Mutuuzo said Uganda strongly believes in and cherishes the African traditional family values and that it welcomes the festival in its capital.
Over 30000 participants from various parts of the world are expected to attend the much-anticipated festival.
Ms. Mutuuzo was a speaking to delegation from the Global Peace Foundation that also Mr. Jinman Kwak, the Family Peace Association International President, and Mr. David Caprara the Strategic advisor of Global Peace Foundation US.
She commended the Global Peace Foundation’s efforts in creating social cohesion in Uganda’s Rwenzori region.
President Jinman Kwak commended Uganda for upholding and preserving traditional family values, rooted in God’s ordained purpose of families for procreation and echoed the need for Uganda to embrace the Family Peace Association with a vision of A world of peace through God-centered families and a mission of enlighten humanity by uplifting spiritual consciousness through universal principles and values rooted in God-centered families and marriages.
Kwak emphasized that families are an integral institution through which the entire human experience is molded, character built, and nations founded.
He remarked that it’s through the preservation of African extended family values of living for the greater good, respect for others, and culture of dreaming big and service to the community, that Uganda and Africa can ride the transformation path. He commended the need to deepen work relations, and commitment towards standing together in promoting these shared values and universal principles.
In his remarks, Global Peace Foundation International Vice President, David Caprara invited the Minister to steer the mobilization of leaders, youth, women, teachers, and cultural leaders in Uganda to participate in the Global Peace Leadership Conference 2024 in Kenya.
Global Peace Foundation Chapter President, Amb. Kambula Milton appreciated the exemplary efforts and support of Minister Mutunzo towards Global Peace Foundation’s ongoing Programmes, and her role in officiating the launch of the One Family under God – Rwenzori Region Peace Campaign in 2017 at Hotel Africana and its subsequent implementation reducing tribal tensions and political clashes in eight districts.
Amb. Kambula intimated that Uganda may have an opportunity to convene the Global Peace Festival 2024 which brings together parents and youth and cross-cutting members of society to celebrate the vision of One Family under God: as well as express African extended family values and experiences geared towards preparing and strengthening marriages and families.
Mr. Fred Rangala, the Regional Director of FPA Africa said that FPA is coming to Uganda to unite families so that parents, family relatives, and communities jointly nurture children with good character.
Ezra a senior advisor to FPA expressed that, Uganda’s efforts guided by spiritual and cultural values, will enable the country to become a torch bearer on which Africa’s renaissance will be recovered and grounded.
