It was a day of full action packed on Saturday at Club Obligato as week 8 of the sting boxing champions league came to end.The week 8 which was also acted as a trial for the Paris, Olympic qualifiers, saw African boxing championship semi finalist Solmon Geko losing to Sabath Zikama of Army boxing club, who is also university student at Bugema university persuing degree in computer science but his opponent didn’t agree with the judge’s decission.
“Have won all the rounds but i was suprise with the judge’s decission” Geko, states.
In other fights, another African boxing championship quarter finalist James Baraka lost to UPDF Adam Jamidali by 4:1 split decission.
“Am on my way to Senegal, as it was my dream from the start”Adam, states.
The late Zebra’s son Isasc Ssenyange who had first lost to his sparring partner Owen Kibira according to first announcement from the ring announcer but later the results were revised and Ssenyange was announced as the winner.
Action of the day, was from Shafic Mawanda of Kalinabbiri boxing club winning over Frank Kasozi of Nakawa boxing club by 5:0 from the judges, what a good fight show from both entertainer with a good skills and foot works from the both fighter.
The Bombers captain, Joshua Tukamuhebwa is back on the plane after his win over his sparring partner Jafar Onen both from East Coast boxing club with a 3:2 split decission from the judges.
Richard Kasujja of Matugga boxing club defeat Mawanda Deperker by 3:2 split decission.
Emilly Nakalema, fresh from African boxing championship with bronze medalist defeat African boxing championship silver medalist Erina Namutebi.
The last bout which was the main fight of the day between Kasim Murungi of East Coast vs Jonah Kyobe of Lukanga boxing club, the fight which was intended to take place in June and was called off due to Kyobe’s illness, the bout which was expected to be more fire from the fighters but was in a slow pace from the fighters , Kasim was the winner of the bout and this claims his place again on the Bombers place.
” I didn’t lost this fight but it was the judge’s decission but i will continue to work hard” Kyobe, states.
