Tadeo Lwanga joins Tanga,a move that awaited, which has made the increasing number of Ugandan players completing moves to the Egyptian league to 4 this summer

On Sunday evening, the combative midfielder joined newly promoted top tier side Tanta Sporting Club.

Tadeo who was a free agent after his contract with Vipers SC expired at the end of the 2018/19 season, is understood to have signed a three-year contract at the Tanta based club, one that will see him there until 2022.

He becomes the third Ugandan player to join the league in the last month or so after Khalid Aucho and Abdul Lumala.

“Glory be to God for enabling this happen. When you are growing as a footballer, you want to play professional football and i am thankful that journey has started for me. I thank everyone who made this possible including all of my former teams. “Said Tadeo Lwanga after signing.

The move comes as no surprise as Lwanga has been one of the most consistent performers in the Uganda Premier League in the recent years.

For three seasons now, he has been arguably the best midfielder in the League and his performances had to have others notice.

After impressing in the local league for a while, he is now a regular in the Uganda Cranes set-up and is highly tipped for a starting role in the near future.

At the just conluded Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Lwanga featured in two of Uganda’s four matches, coming off the bench in each. The only games that the hard tackling midfielder did not feature in were the 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe and the round of 16 loss to Senegal.

Tadeo’s journey has been steady as he featured for then-troubled Express FC in the 2014/15 season before moving to SC Villa.

At Villa, he played two seasons, captaining the Jogoos to a third place finish in the 2016/17 season, his last at Villa Park.

He then transferred to Vipers SC with whom he won the 2017/18 league title and also reached the final of the Uganda Cup where the Venoms lost 1-0 to KCCA FC.

He was handed the captain’s armband the following season, leading the Venoms to a second placed finish.

After his contract with Vipers SC expired at the back end of last season (2018/19), Tadeo opted not to renew it with a view of securing a move outside the country, a decision that has paid off.

Tadeo has played 11 full international games for Uganda and he is yet to find the back of the net.

Tadeo’s latest game for the Cranes came in a 3-1 win over Somalia in the CHAN 2020 qualifiers where he scored the third goal.

After the game, him along with former KCCA FC defender Timothy Awany withdraw from the squad, sighting completion of deals abroad as the reason.
