2023 CAF WCLZQ: CBE Face 2021 Winners As Buja, JKT Vie For Maiden Final

The CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers semifinals commences today after two days of rest.

Buja Queens who finished second in group A take on group B leaders JKT Queens in the early kickoff at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

JKT Queens won all their group B games, conceding only one goal while Buja Queens won three games and lost only one.

Its the first time the two teams playing the semifinals of the championship and the first tournament for JKT and the winner will play in her first ever final.

In another semifinal, 2021 winners Vihiga Queens will battle it with CBE of Ethiopia at 4PM at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Vihiga Queens finished second in group B behind JKT while CBE FC topped group A without tasting a defeat.

This will be the repeat of 2021 final where Vihiga Queens defeated CBE FC to win the inaugural championship that was hosted in Kenya.

Loza Abera who has 4 goals in the tournament will be looking to add on her tally and as well to help her team reach final and maybe win the title, while Vihiga Queen will be seeking to reach final and win the championship for the second time.

Kampala Queens’ striker Fazila Ikwaput is the tournament’s leading scorer with 8 goals though her team is already out of the competition.

The winner of the championship, will represent CECAFA region in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November this year.
