Crystal Palace sign Dean Henderson from Man United

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of goalkeeper Dean Henderson from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Selhurst Park, keeping him at the club until 2028.

Henderson joins for an undisclosed fee thought to be worth up to £20m and becomes Palace’s third signing of the summer, after Jefferson Lerma and Matheus Franca.

“I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started,” he told the club’s official website.

“This club has got great fans and has a lot of top players who are hungry to succeed. There’s something being built here, and I really want to be a part of it.”

Chairman Steve Parish added: “Dean is a fantastic addition to our squad and goalkeeping unit

“We have been long-term admirers of Dean’s, following his ascension through the ranks at Manchester United and England, but also his impressive achievements whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.”
Henderson has spent the past 12 years on Manchester United’s books, but found himself behind David de Gea in the pecking order for most of his time in the senior ranks and leaves Old Trafford having made just 29 first-team appearances for the club.
De Gea’s exit from Man United earlier this summer briefly raised the possibility of Henderson being handed the opportunity for regular starts, but the Red Devils instead signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Henderson first came to Premier League prominence during a loan spell with Sheffield United in 2019-20, when his performances earned him the chance to fight for a starting berth for Man United the following campaign.
However, he spent last season out on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he made 20 appearances across all competitions.

If deemed fit, the one-time England international could make his debut for Palace when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
