Joint Patrols In Somali Town of Bulumarere Conducted by AU/UPDF To Allay Fears Of Al-Shabaab Attack

Troops from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Somali Security Forces (SSF), and Local Authorities, based in Bulumarere district 123Kms Southwest of Mogadishu city, patrolled the streets of Bulumarere for confidence building and allay fears of Al-Shabaab attack.

While interacting with town dwellers, Maj Donald Naijuka, the ATMIS commanding officer Bulumarer Forward Operating Base, and SSF commander, Col Abdul Salat, assured residents of guaranteed security, and encouraged all to carry on with their daily activities without fear.

The District Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Sheikh Asuman encouraged locals to always identify indicators of negative elements and freely share any information with local authorities.

For the past week, there have been rumours about a possible Al-Shabaab attack on Bulumarer town causing restlessness among communities.
