Buganda Kingdom lukiiko passes the 2023/24 FY budget as Katikkiro Mayiga reveals the progress of the Tombs to the members

The Buganda Prime minister Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga has revealed to the Buganda lukiiko the progress of the work that is going on in Buganda kingdom siting the status of the reconstruction of the Kasubi Masiro Tombs which is currently going on.

He commended the central government, Japanese government, UNESCO, people around Buganda kingdom and others, for the support towards the reconstruction of the kasubi Tombs which has been going on since 2010 when it caught fire. He added that they are planning on the systems to be followed while managing the Masiro to keep it to the standards required.

He urged the central government to include the Kasubi Masiro Tombs into the country’s budget so that the remaining work towards the reconstruction of the Tombs can be done. He stated that since Kampala city was started by the Buganda’s king and the Tombs are in Kampala, there is need for the government to put it into consideration. He also suggested that the Tombs be made a symbol for Kampala city as it will increase on the tourism attraction in the country.

 Owek Mayiga urged members of parliament that come from Buganda, to continue advocating for the Tombs budget to be considered in the country’s budget so that it is given more money. And promised that if the remaining work is completed, they will reveal the date when the Tombs are to be reopened. On issues concerning the budget, He noted that Buganda still has challenges in its finance but Buganda should work together to see things moving well through commitment.

In the same way, he has revealed to the Buganda lukiiko that the Queen of Buganda kingdom Sylvia Nagginda paid a courtesy visit to the president of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to inform him about the programs going on in Nabagerereka development Foundation one of the programs which is to be launched on 10th  November 2023.

 However, Owek Mayiga challenged the masaza cup committee to maintain discipline among the players, viewers and organizers so that they can get ride of the continous conflicts that are coming out in the masaza tournament. He noted the misconduct of Kyadondo team and emphasized that they are to fight against misconduct, and punish all players who misbehave, as a way of putting things right in the tournament.
