Makerere University Business School (MUBS) clinched a second consecutive victory by edging out IUIU 1-0 in a thrilling Group B Pepsi University Football League match in Nakawa.

A decisive penalty by Thomas Lasu was all MUBS needed to triumph, propelling the 2015 champions to the top of the table.

Reflecting on the match, MUBS head coach William Kasozi emphasized the importance of securing the three points, especially after such a demanding game.

“We knew the importance of clinching three points heading into this match. Despite our challenges in scoring recently, which was evident today, we’re delighted with the outcome,” Kasozi told the press.

On the other side, IUIU’s head coach Haruna Keba expressed his disappointment, believing his team had the upper hand throughout the match.

“It’s a tough loss. Our performance and the number of chances we had suggested we should’ve come out on top. We need to refine our decision-making near the goal and aim for a stronger showing next time,” Keba remarked.

MUBS is poised as the team to beat in their upcoming match against Victoria University, hoping to bag a third consecutive win and solidify their lead in the group.

Meanwhile, IUIU will seek redemption and a return to form as they host YMCA in Mbale for their next showdown.
