More agony for KCCA as they suffer to 2-1 defeat by Express FC in a Kampala derby held on Saturday

Express FC have added more salt in the KCCA FC’s wounds after beating them 2-1 at their own home in a game played on Sunday afternoon at Phillip Omondi stadium Lugogo.

Muhammed Shaban’s equalizer wasn’t enough as Isaac Wagoina scored late to hand KCCA FC third consecutive league loss of the season.

Midfielder Joel Sserunjogi nearly put the home side in the lead but his well taken shot was parried by goalkeeper Kimera to keep the game all square.

Express FC scored in 23rd minute of the game through defender Derrick Ngoobi. Isma Kawawulo’s well delivered corner found faster Derrick Ngoobi who beat the goalkeeper Ochan with a super header to put the visitors in the lead.

KCCA FC equalized through Muhammed Shaban. Sensational Usama Arafat made a solo run in the right flank and crossed the ball with his right weak foot to find well positioned Shaban who headed home to make it 1-1 before the break.

The visitors almost scored the second goal at the death of the first stanza but goalkeeper Derrick Ochan was equal to the test to keep the game 1-1 heading into the half time.

In the second half Ettiene Katenga nearly put KCCA FC in the lead but his shot was denied by the crossbar.

It was a moment of joy for the visitors as Isaac Wagoina doubled the lead in the last five minutes. Eddy Ssebandeke’s well delivered cross was well headed by Wagoina to restore the lead for Red Eagles.

KCCA FC tried to create chances and find the equalizer but Express FC defense were equal to the task as they defended their slim lead to the final whistle of the game.

The 1-2 away win for Express FC, was the first ever away win against KCCA FC since 2015 and their second win of the season in three games.

Kasasiro boys, have now lost all their three opening games, lost 1-0 to BUL FC in the opening, lost 1-2 at home to Maroons in the second game, and they have lost 1-2 to Express FC today.

Now, KCCA FC will go to Independence day and International break as well, sitting in the relegation zone while Express FC are now in 4th position, and only two points behind the table leaders.

The Startimes Uganda Premier League will resume 10 days from now as unbeaten Kitara will be welcoming wounded KCCA FC on 20th October while Express FC will host Soltilo Bright Stars on 21st October.
