KCCA FC part ways with Portuguese coach Traguil

KCCA FC has confirmed they have parted ways with head coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil.

The development comes after a poor start to the 2023/24 season where the 13-time league winners have lost all their opening four games.

“KCCA FC and Head Coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil have today Tuesday, 24th October 2023 mutually parted ways with immediate effect.” Reads a statement on the club website.

KCCA FC confirmed Traguil on 12th June 2023 on a two-year deal, replacing Morely Byekwaso who resigned towards the end of last season.

Whoever, a string of poor results and loss of control over the dressing room pointed to one direction and that was the club letting go of him.

The Lugogo based side have had their poorest start to a season, losing all their opening four games including Maroons FC, BUL FC, Express FC and most recently Kitara FC.

KCCA FC also had an early exit from the CAF Confederations Cup, suffering defeat to Libya’s Abu Salim.

At the time of his departure, reports indicated the gaffer had fallen out with players such as Moses Waiswa and Derrick Ochan who were banished from club duties recently.

Luis Manuel Correira Guerreiro who has been serving as assistant to Traguil has also been relieved of his duties.

The club confirmed first team coach will now take charge on interim basis.

“First team coach Jackson Magera Kaddi takes charge of all first team duties as the interim head coach with immediate effect.”

KCCA FC will face NEC FC on Wednesday at MTN-Omondi Stadium.
