CITY TYRES EAST AFRICAN BADMINTON CHALLENGE ENTERED DAY TWO

The City Tyres East African Badminton Challenge which started yesterday at NCS arena,  Lugogo , today (Friday) enterer day two at the same venue.

The 2023 City Tyres Badminton Challenge was served off yesterday, Thursday 26th October 2023 at Lugogo Indoor Arena and it has attracted over 1500 participants from Kenya, India and China among other countries.

This edition that is to be played between Thursday 26th and Sunday 29th October 2023 has almost doubled the number of participants compared to that of last edition which had 800 participants.

After the launch of the tournament by Mandela group officials in the press briefing held on Thursday at Lugogo Indoor Arena, Mandela group Marketing Executive, Mahad Twaha revealed that this edition attracted a big number of participants and also revealed the special items in the event.

“The interesting bit of this event is that we have more categories today, we have got the professionals, foreigners category, Universities, juniors, and to make it more fun, we’re calling so many people to come and cheer up their teams because they are also going to move away with something, we’re going to have fans winning one mountain bike a day, so at the end of everyday we shall have a ruffle conducted and the lucky fan will go away with a 11 gear mountain bike courtesy of Linglong and Mandela group.” Says, Mahad Twaha, Marketing Executive Mandela Group.

On why Mandela group relationship and badminton is still intact for years, Mahad had this to comment.

“Badminton is an association that we proud of to partner with because of the attributes they carry themselves with, the honesty, accountability and that are the very attributes with us as an organization.” He stated.

The Uganda Badminton Association CEO and the events manager, Mugabi Simon revealed the categories they are having at the 2023 East Africa Badminton Challenge.

“The events are many of course we have schools that have junior categories, that’s U10, U13,15 and U19, we have corporates, we shall have Universities, we shall have the professionals, the foreigners in Uganda, nations cup where we shall have four countries, that is Uganda, China, India and Kenya.” Says Uganda Badminton Association CEO Mugabi Simon.

The championship which was last organised in 2019,  started on high gear with excellent performance from different individuals.
