Bakkabulindi flags off team Uganda for All Africa Games Morocco 219.

State Minister for Sports Charles Bakkabulindi on Thursday evening flagged off team Uganda for All Africa Games at National Council of Sports headquarters.

General Secretary National Council of Sports Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel and his assistant David Katende, Donald Rukare the President Uganda Swimming Federation and Ismael Dhakaba Kigongo PRO NCS among other dignitaries attended the flag off ceremony.

The 12th edition of the event will take place from 19th to 31st August in Rabat, Morocco.

A contingent of 170, departed for Morocco on in three batches, the first left on Friday 16th an other one on Saturday 17th and the final one one will on Thursday 22nd August 2019.

These include 77 Athletes from 13 Sports disciplines, 19 coaches and 74 officials, where Athletics will be represented by 25 Athletes, Boxing 8 boxers( 6 men and 2 ladies), Swimming 2, Table Tennis 4, Badminton 6, Beach Volleyball 4, Basketball 4, Chess 2, Cycling 2, Handball 14, Taekwondo 2 and Weightlifting 4, and the final set will depart for Morocco on 22nd August.

Hon. Bakkabulindi expects team Uganda to win more medals than last edition held in Congo Brazzaville.

“We expect to have more medal in Morocco because we have the talent to compete with the rest of Africa.

We are delighted as the government to see young boys and girls take part in Sports activities.”

The government has tried and willing to continue supporting sports.”

Each Athlete received $1000 dollars and other competition equipments from National Council for Sports.

The minister expects more medals, when they decided to take only 8 boxers, prioritizing to use the government resources on the 74 officials for their venturing to Morocco really i don’t understand, because when i try to comp[are the 77 Athletes we are looking at bin terms of medal with their 19 coaches comparing them to the 74 touring official, i actually become confused but all in all i wish you the best in Morocco for God and my country.
