The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFPRO Africa will announce the Africa Best XI for men and women players at a ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco on 11 December 2023.

It will be the third edition of the men’s team and inaugural event for women players. The previous editions were in 2018 and 2019. The annual award returns next month after being suspended during the pandemic.

As part of a partnership signed in 2018, CAF and FIFPRO Africa agreed to promote players in the region by organizing the vote for the African team of the year. The selection process will be determined by the votes of national team players from each federation affiliated to CAF.

The creation of the CAF-FIFPRO Africa Women’s XI shows a commitment by both organizations to promote the continent’s women footballers who demonstrated their talent on the world stage during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The votes will be collected through the same digital app that FIFPRO developed for the World 11 vote, which the world player union has been organizing with FIFA since 2005.
