Opposition in Parliament has today returned to parliament under the command of the Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga to pay tribute to the fallen Joyce Mpanga.

The body of late Mpanga arrived at parliament today morning at 10:20am and later entered into the chambers of parliament at 2pm for the house to honor her services to the nation.

Later a motion to pay tribute to the late Joyce Mpanga was moved by the third deputy prime minister Rukia Nakadama and seconded by LOP Mathias Mpuuga and other MPs.

Late Joyce Mpanga has been remembered for her tremendous services to the country having served as a Minister for Women’s Affairs, Minister for state for Primary Education, MP for Mubende district, Deputy Head teacher for Gayaza High School, 1st lecturer at Makerere University at the faculty of Education, Member of Buganda Lukiiko and most of all a self-made person in fighting the rights of women.

Meanwhile LOP Mpuuga challenged the current regime ministers to borrow a leaf from late Mpanga who was patriotic and incorruptible especially in the MoE where she worked.

Late Joyce Mpanga was born on Jan-22-1933 in Kassanda district by then great Mubende district and died on 18th November 2023.
