The Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) has cautioned the leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga to focus on the end result of the fight for the release of the 18 imprisoned members of opposition instead of looking at the process the team is going through to achieve their target.

FDC is responding to accusations from Hon Mpuuga who stressed that it has not been part of the struggle for the release of their fellow opposition members when of them chose to return to parliament for sittings yet the opposition members of parliament decided to boycot the parliamentary sittings until they get answers to where the 18 opposition members are, and demand for their release.

It is alleged that the opposition members in parliament have used different methods of demanding for their fellow opposition members who have been arrested since 2020 but not produced until they finally chose to boycot parliamentary sittings until they get clear answers to their long time questions. But in the process, FDC chose to go against the decision and instead returned to parliament.

Adressing the press at party Headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the party spokesperson John Kikonyogo noted that when it comes to fighting for Human rights, FDC very well knows the different tactics to use. If they thought the boycot will not work, they can use some other tactics other than the boycot.

He added that not taking the boycot angle doesnot mean they are collaborating with the NRM party as Hon Mpuuga noted. He arged the opposition team behind the struggle, under the leadership of Hon Mpuuga that this is not the time to point at each other for failure, but to look at different tactics of approaching for the demand for their members to be produced.

In the same meeting, the FDC National youth League Francis Adepo introduced the new leadership of the Makerere University FDC chapter which is one way of reviving FDC leadership to different parts of the country starting with the youth. The introduced members include Onesmus Rubambura Kakuhi as the Chairman, Glorious Gift Musoki as the Vice Chairman and Faith Kohairwe for Women’s affairs.

Francis Adepo noted that the team is much more committed to drive the party in different aspects and serve it whole heartedly.
