The Buganda Prime Minister Owek Charles Peter Mayiga challenged the youth to work as much as they can during their youthful age so that they find life easy in their old age. And not to wait for leaders at different development levels to work towards the kingdom development but for them to join the development cause.

He mentioned this during the commemoration of the Buganda kingdom youth day at the function which took place at Bukalasa agricultural college in Bulemeezi.

The Katikkiro cautioned the youth that it is during their youth time that they are energetic enough to work and set their future.

He stressed that most of the people who find life hard during their old age must have wasted alot of time during their youth stage, and this has negatively impacted their lives, yet they may not have another chance to prepare.

However, as the country joins the rest of the world to commemorate the world Aids day, Owek Mayiga warned the youth to be vigilant about their lives and protect themselves against HIV/AIDS so that they can be able to attain their future goals.

He challenged students who are still in school to concentrate on their education and stay away from sexual intercourse since it is the only way that can help them protect themselves against getting infected with the virus.

At the same function, the Minister for youth, sports and talents in Buganda Kingdom Owek Robert Sserwanga Salongo revealed to the Katikkiro that the ministry is extending its programs from the county level to Subcounty program through enabling the youth activities take place in sub counties.

He emphasised that the Subcounty football tournaments are to be started in January next year.
