Kakande nets a brace as SC Villa ease past 10 man UPDF FC to improve position on the log

SC Villa 3-0 UPDF FC

SC Villa secured a dominant victory against UPDF FC on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon in Matchday 14 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League. Hosting their final home game in the first round before the January break, the Jogoos initiated relentless attacks, starting with Charles Lwanga’s early chance saved by UPDF’s goalkeeper Wasswa in the 3rd minute.

Young Star Patrick Jonna Kakende scored in either half to hand SC Villa a win over UPDF FC.

The game which took place at Wankulukuku stadium on Tuesday 2rd January 2024 the  Army side were forced down with red card being showed to UPDF FC goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa for handling a ball outside his area in the 16th minute of the game.

The incident forced UPDF FC tactician Pius Ngabo to a forced substitution bringing which saw Jimmy Okidi coming in for Veteran midfielder Muwada Mawejje.

Prior to the time of the red card SC Villa was a better side with Abbas Kyeyune already missed two scoring opportunities and two free kicks in good scoring area.

The red card just worsened the game for UPDF FC sinking into just after 12 minutes by going a goal down through penalty converted by Kakande after a handball foul from Charles Lwanga’s Cross inside the box.

11 minutes later they conceded another goal through Jimmy Okidi’s own goal connecting in Hakim Kiwanuka’s cross into his own net.

At that point UPDF FC just had to hold on the game so that they can avoid conceding the big figure.

The game went to half time with SC Villa leading 2-0 but return with improper game management when the game faced to a delay caused by flooding of the field marks an Issue which happened before the break.

The game restarted after over 20 minutes delay and SC Villa was on spot getting a 47th Minute  breakthrough with  Charles Lwanga receiving Noah Ssemakula’s pass to run in goal direct  setting up Kakande’s second of the day and the third of the game which saw the final score of 3-0.

Coach Dusan made a double change in the 62nd minute, bringing on Elvis Ngonde and Hakim Mutebi for Semugera and Hakim Kiwanuka, respectively.

In the 74th minute, Owori and Kiwanuka Rogers entered the game, substituting Patrick Jonah and Charles Lwanga. The match concluded with a resounding win for SC Villa, marking a positive start to the new year.

Majorly the second half both teams seemed to play and completing the task with UPDF FC again focused on not to concede more and SC Villa doing nothing much for more by just creating clear chance hitting the ball at Kakande’s back to deny him a hat-trick completion.

The game pushed SC Villa 3rd position with 25 points from 14 games and UPDF FC is sitting second last on the table with 9 points.

SC Villa will be back in action on Visiting URA FC at Mehta Stadium Lugazi on Sunday 7th January 2024 while UPDF FC will also be on road Visiting Maroons FC at Luzira prisons on Friday 5th January 2024.
