Lugazi Stars FC’s Nigerian player requests for release after Vipers game as Uganda Cup round of 64 fixtures released

With Stanbic Uganda Cup 50th edition round of 64 confirmed to take action from 23rd to 31st January 2024, Lugazi Stars FC set to upset defending Champions Vipers SC on 29th January 2024 at Mehta Stadium Lugazi.

On that case Nigerian national Paul Emmanuel who plays for the Buganda regional League club has requested his bosses to allow him live the club if any greener pastures chance comes while the team has to face champions, Vipers SC.

“this is the chance which comes once, I am willing to utilize it, my mission is to look for professional opportunity and if any chance comes my way I request my bosses to release me”. Siad Paul Emmanuel.

The game was meant to take place at Buikwe Stadium but was shifted to Lugazi Mehta Stadium after Lugazi Stars request accepted by FUFA competitions.

The Buganda regional league side is coached by Coach Bright and is home to many former Uganda premier league players like Moses Ali Feni, Cephas Kambugu Tarzan and Godfrey Buni mixed-up with some out standing players at their level which gives the club management a hope to upset odds against Vipers SC in Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 clash.

Wakiso Giants among the teams to take the first kick on 23rd January 2024 as they travel to Kyambogo, Jinja North will take on Mubende based Super Eagles Lugongwe, Rugarama FC will be facing Kigezi Homeboyz FC while it is in doubt whether Ndejje University FC will turn up to face Iganga Young.

On 24th the round of 64 shall continue with 4 other fixtures with KCCA FC traveling to Admin FC. Commencing to 25th with Nsambya SC hosting Arua Hill at St Peters Nsambya play ground, SC Villa travel to SC Tawai in Dokolo are among the 5 games to take action on the day.

The games shall take a 3 days break to return on 29th and 17 games scattered on 3 days closing 31st January 2024.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup is the second most prestigious competition in Uganda football. It is played on a knock-out basis. This annual competition is open for non-league or non Association teams, registered clubs playing in all five football divisions (Div I, II, III, IV and V) of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

The Uganda Cup was first held in 1971.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup represents Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup. 

Express FC and KCCA FC have won the cup most times (10), while SC Villa has won it 9 times.

Vipers SC are the current winners.
