GO AND CONQUER AFRICA NOT TOURING – MUGABI TELLS PLAYERS AS UGANDA PARA BADMINTON TEAM FLAGGED OFF TO EGYPT

On Friday January 19th morning, Uganda Para badminton team was flagged-off to Egypt for the Egypt Para badminton International championship which starts from Tuesday 23, January to 28, January, 2024.

According to Simon Mugabi, CEO Uganda badminton Association said this is that this is the second last qualifier tournament for the Paris  Para Olympic games in August.

The team of seven members plus the coach was flagged- off by James Kasumba, official from NCS.

“Go and conquer Africa not touring because we have invested much to make sure this trip stands”, Simon sates.

According to Kasumba, he argued players to work hard to have a chance of qualifying for the Paris Para Olympic games because the more points collected, the more chances of qualifying.

The seven players include, Sarah Nazziwa who will compete in wheel chair 1 and she is ranked number 1 currently in Africa, Elizabeth Mwesigwa who will compete in standing lower 3 (SL3) and she is currently ranked number 1 in Africa, Sumin Mutesi in standing upper (SU5) and she is currently ranked number 1 in Africa, Rose Nansereko in standing lower 2 (SL3) currently ranked number 2 in Africa, Rita Asimwe in standing upper 5( SU5), Hasan Mubiru in standing lower 4( SL4) and Ali Mukasa in wheelchair.

Coach Mark Ssekyodwa will lead the team of seven players to Egypt.
