Uganda Woodball Federation has today, Saturday February 17th held it’s 16 annual congress at headquarters in Mengo.
Before the remarks from the Woodball Federation president Paul Mark Kayongo, a one minute moment of silence was observed in honour for the fallen sports journalist, late James Mayanja who passed on last year for his effort towards the development of the games Woodball since its reception.
This 16 annual congress, was attended by the Woodball delegates, David Katende the assistant general secretary administration at NCS, Mark Kayongo, Woodball president, Vincent Kisenyi ,Woodball vice president, Collins Semanda, Woodball general secretary.
Woodball Federation had a good 2023 where, they participated in the third Malaysia beach woodball where women’s team emerged third and men’s team in the fourth position in the World, woodball was organised in secondary schools during USSSA ball games 2 which were held at St Mary’s college Busoloza in Kabale, the 7th edition of the Coral coatings International Woodball Open Championship was well organised in Gulu university, BLB Woodball League ended well and Mark Kayongo was reelected as the vice president for International Woodball Federation in December, last year at the General Assembly in Chinese, Taipei.
David Katende, thanked the federation for well organization structure and argued them to continue with that spirit.
Katende, went on to say that ,the government of Uganda through NCS will continue supporting the Woodball sport.
According to Sarah Mpiima, the Federation treasurer said that as Federation, they managed to carry out all the 2023 activities calendar as approved in the last congress and this was possible with the support from the government, member clubs and sponsors.
Sarah, went on to present out the budget proposal for the year 2024 with an increment of 28%.
KCCA Woodball club ,Gulu university and Kampala International are the newly adopted clubs and will start participating in 2024 Woodball activity calendar with KCCA Woodball offered to host the fourth Woodball circuit at KCCA ground. Now Woodball Federation has 57 member clubs.
