After winning Egypt’s Hany by 2:1 sets in the round of 32, Ugandan Husina Kobugabe became the only hope for Uganda in men’s and women’s singles.
This is because all other Ugandan women and men in singles category have been eliminated. Seed number one Gladys Mbabazi, lost her game on Wednesday and most of the men also lost theirs yesterday. Fadila Shamika loses to Ukraine Buhrova today and Tracy Naluwooza has also lost hers today.
“It has been a turf game for me but i thank God who helped me to overcome this Egyptian, so am waiting for the next opponent in the round of 16”, Kobugabe said after her progress to the next round.
The Uganda International Badminton tournament started yesterday and will come to an end on Sunday February 25th where victors will earn them selves tickets to Paris 2024 Olympics games.
Shamim Bangi, is the last and only Ugandan to won this tournament.
