Under Masaza teams committees Members split over 4 year players limitations lift as Kooki, Mawogola falling into impossible group stage mission.
Following the lift of limitations from players who have had 4 years under their belts in Masaza cup. The house is still living divided opinion over the rule.
Following the technical meeting held on Wednesday 29 May at Bulange, The house passed by allowing players playing Masaza cup beyond 4 years to continue abolishing previous clause that limit them.
The rule was hugely support by Buddu FC and securing the vote of youth and Sports minister in Mengo Government Robert Sserwanga Salongo.
After the meeting it seemed that this time round it was the minority winning the discussion as many undisclosed members of the meeting was at one statement.
“Those who have supported the return of players who have already played 4 years and more they don’t think beyond Masaza cup.
For us we are looking to develop players talents and in development it is not good some people to not progressing, they may block opportunities for young players” and it will minimise on the number of players to go for professional career”
And others added “it is a national concern, we have had players for just short period because we all know the status of our league financially which causing some good players reluctant over turning pro.
It that rule can work well may be we will need to set up maximum on signing fee and control some Masaza expenses”
On these in proposition of the rule Buddu Ssaza’s chairperson Salongo Zziwa Steven stated.
“In 2020 players played behind closed doors and they didn’t get a chance of getting scouted and many of them where hugely coated and they are their stuck, It will be good to fetch them back and they find new chances, over the passed recent seasons we have been getting half baked products resulting reducing of the football quality in Masaza tournament”
At the meeting which took over 3 hours, It was high marked by group drawing pitting 4 possible tournament winner into one group along Kooki and Mawogola.
The other are record Champions Gomba, two times champions Singo with their arch rival neighbours Buwekula and highly prepared Kyaggwe in Maganzirwazza group B.
The other competitive group is Bulange having Defending Champions Bulemeezi and Buddo which seems to control the group A competition.
It completes with Kyadondo who looks as clear only clears challenger while Bululi, Butambala and Bugerere will have to pool up their socks to create momentum into the group.
The tournament is having three groups and Mawokota, Buvuma, Kabula, Busujju, Busiro and Sesse making the final group Masengere.
