In a move to address President Museveni’s concerns, Parliament approves reallocation of 750.47bn shs

In a move to address President Museveni’s concerns, Parliament has approved the reallocation of 750.47 billion shillings as directed, while reconsidering the Appropriation Bill 2024 for the financial year 2024/25, totaling 72.1 trillion shillings.

Parliament reinstate the Shs.300Bn to Roko Construction Company moving money from ambulances for regional referral hospitals.

Shs25bn reinstated for treasury operations for fulfillment of contractual obligations for the loans acquired for the implementation of key projects where funds have not fully been absorbed.

Shs8Bn cut from the budget Ministry of Local Governments meant for workshops and seminars as well as advertising and public relations, saying the funds are meant for sensitization of Parish Development Model.

Shs.5Bn reinstated for the fight against sleeping sickness in Uganda and procurement of acaricides, with Minister of state for Finance in charge of General duties Henry Musasizi warning that the budget cuts if maintained would affect the control of tsetse flies which would affect animal productivity and tourism.

Shs5Bn that had been allocated to the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity for the publication of the National Anti-Corruption Survey on the perception and prevalence of corruption, moved towards strengthening the adjudication of the Leadership Code Act.

Shs.10bn reinstated to support rural water supply, Shs22.74bn for KCCA disaster mitigation, Shs15bn for rural electrification and connectivity project.

Shs.6.8bn reinstated for Namanve Thermal Power as required for capacity payments for the operations of the Namanve Thermal Power Plant for energy security.

However, some MPs, like Butambala County’s Muwanga Kivumbi,and Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda expressed disappointment after Museveni decided to channel public funds to individual companies and non performing activities.
