Airtel Masaza cup: Group stage first round climaxes, Kyaggwe, Buddu, Bululi and Buwekula had perfect mark

Group stage first round climaxes, teams sleeps in terms of scoring as Kyaggwe, Buddu, Bululi and Buwekula had good ending results.

Having had 6 teams per group leading the competition to have 5 games per team courtesy of group stage first leg.

During the weekend of 27/28 July 2024 most of the teams marked their fifth outing except Busiro and Buvuma who will honour their fifth fixture on 4th August.

Over the 9 games played on match-day 5, five games went goalless, and only 4 goals were witnessed.

Starting with Saturday July 27, two games were played, one between Butambala and Kyadondo at Kibibi SS and Buvuma against Kabula at Magyo which all ended in goalless draws.

The competition returned on Sunday July 28 with 7 games, The biggest game was between struggling giants saw Buddu causing more problems to defending champions Bulemeezi with a narrow win off the game played at Kitovu.

Pius Ssebulime scored the only game of the match that handed Buddu the second win of the campaign forcing Bulemeezi to fourth defeat out of the 5 outings.

In the same group Bululi maintained their pole position of Bulange group with a 1- 0 win over Bugerere at Ntenjeru.

Robert Ssewanyana scored the goal that took him to 3 goals from 5 games leveling with Shaban Kayongo and Joseph Ssewaali both plays for Ssingo.

Bululi now counting 11 point out of possible 15 leading the group which having Bugerere in second place while Buddu reach the third place with a win over Bulemeezi.

Out of the three groups Muganzirwazza looks like is the most interesting group to follow with only 2 points separating the top 3 teams.

In the group Buwekula beaten Gomba at Kabulasoke through Sharafa Mukiibi’s goal, Kyaggwe capitalised on Ivan Kalyowa’s goal to beat Kooki at Mukono Bishops while Ssingo played a barren draw on road to Mawogola.

The games kept Ssingo on top of the group with 11 points, Kyaggwe at 10 and Buwekula sitting third with 9 points out of possible 15.

In Masengere group not goals was seen from three games over the weekend, Buvuma started by recording 4th draw in 4 games with a 0-0 against group leader Kabula, Busiro and Ssese played the same score as Mawokota and Busujju recording the same result.

Now Kabula is leading that group with 10 points having a just 1 point advantage off second place Busujju, Mawokota is third counting 6 points

The competition is expected to return to action on Sunday 4 August 2024 with the only remained game before the return of the second round of the groups.
