KCCA FC got their league title defence off a winning start as they defeated Wakiso Giants 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
In the game played at Lugogo, Allan Okello scored the only goal of the day to continue his brilliant form in front of goal.
The 20-year old who came into the game having netted 8 times since the league closed last season, headed in a Mustapha Kizza teasing cross to hand his side the victory.
The win ensured the Kasasiros move level on points with the likes of Vipers, URA and 4 other sides, who also won their respective match-day one fixtures.
For Wakiso, it was a first loss in their maiden top flight fixture but will take a lot of inspiration from the way they played.
As expected, KCCA FC started strongly, dominated the early possession and saw Muzamir Mutyaba get the first sniff on goal but his effort was comfortably saved by Yasin Mugabi in the Wakiso goal.
The Kasasiro boys continued knocking on the door and they were eventually let-in on 15 minutes.
After a good build up on the left, Kizza swung a cross into the area and Okello met it with precision, heading into the back of the net.
Okello also had an effort kiss the frame of the goal in the second half.
Midfielder Gift Ali had to attempts to put some day light between Mike Mutebi’s side and the visitors but the ball could just not go in.
Forst, he forced a decent save from Mugabi off a curling shot before having and effort cleared off the line by Muwadda Kateregga.
Wakiso’s best chance to restore parity fell to former KCCA FC striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma who headed goal wards but his effort was cleared off the line by Samuel Kato.
KCCA FC are now one of the 7 teams that registered victories in their opening games.
The other are Kyetume, Vipers, Bul, URA, Tooro United and Mbarara City.
The other games played on Saturday saw Tooro United defeat Busoga United 2-1 while Mbarara City powered past Proline 3-0.
